The Norfolk Pro Rodeo is a Genuine Family Day Out

Not every “family friendly” event actually delivers for kids. This one does. From the moment you walk through the gates, there’s enough going on to keep kids of every age happy — and enough for the adults to love it too.

Here’s what’s in store for families at the 2026 Norfolk Pro Rodeo.

Sunday is Family Fun Day

Sunday is the most relaxed day of the weekend and is set up with families in mind. Gates open at 11:00 AM, the Kids Rodeo kicks off at 12:30 PM, and the main rodeo follows at 1:00 PM. It wraps up at a reasonable hour with no evening concert — perfect if you’ve got little ones with a bedtime.

What's There for Kids?

Kids Rodeo — This is the highlight. Kids get to take part in real rodeo action right in the main arena. No registration needed, it’s included with admission, and recommended for ages 4–12 (but nobody’s checking ID). Just show up and let them at it. Check the schedule for times — it runs Saturday at 2:30 PM and Sunday at 12:30 PM.

Inflatables — Because what’s a summer day without a bounce castle?

Face Painting — A must for the little ones.

Roaming Entertainment — There’s always something happening between events.

Farm Animals — A hit with younger kids especially.

Food & Drink Vendors — A good variety of food and drinks on site. And here’s something families will appreciate: outside food and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome. Kids and their endless snack demands are understood here. Please support the vendors where you can, but bring what you need. No outside alcohol permitted.

Parenting Station — A dedicated parenting station for feeding and changing babies, located in the vendor/picnic area, compliments of the Norfolk Family Health Team. One less thing to worry about.

Come for the Bulls, Stay for the Bands!

Friday and Saturday tickets include the evening concert — so if the kids are still going strong after the rodeo, stick around. George Canyon plays Friday night and Aaron Pritchett takes the stage Saturday. Imagine the excitement of their first rodeo and first concert!

Bonus: your all day Rodeo ticket includes the concert!

A Few Tips for a Smooth Day

  • Wear comfortable shoes — it’s a working ranch and the ground can be uneven
  • Sunscreen and hats are a good idea for daytime sessions, especially Sunday
  • Arrive close to gate time to get settled before the Kids Rodeo — it fills up fast
  • Plenty of seating around the grounds — bleachers, picnic tables and more — so no need to haul anything in
